The Mirarasor Restaurant in France won the Best Restaurant in the World award at a ceremony in which it distributed prizes in Singapore.
The restaurant, located in the Riviera, outperformed the other restaurants in the annual competition organized by the company (Top 50 Restaurants in the World).
Run by a Argentinian chef, Mirasur was praised for a number of his dishes, including salty beetroot, which he harvested from his farm, with caviar cream.
The competition, which started in 2002, is now competing with the famous Michelin Stars, although some experts question the method used.

The list of contenders is based on the opinion of more than 1,000 culinary experts.
Spain obtained three places in the first ten restaurants, while France, Denmark and Peru won two places each.
Britain ranked two in the first 50 list, Clove Club Restaurant ranked 27th, and Night at 33rd place. Both restaurants are in London’s Shoreditch area.

What made Mirazur the best restaurant in the world?
“Britain’s Mirazor has provided the pinnacle of restaurant experiences,” the company said (Britain’s 50 Best Restaurants in the World), which publishes the results of its competitor, William Red Business Media, in Britain.
The most dazzling of the rulers was its “unbeatable location in the Riviera, its lush gardens, which germinate the finest produce, its skilled chef team, and its hosts.”
Is someone described as “the best chef in the world”?
Argentine chef Mauro Collagrico said he felt “flying in the sky” when he learned of the news, according to Reuters news agency.
He added that the valuable prize “shows the world that if you have a dream, everything is possible.”
The restaurant opened in 2006 and has so far received three Michelin Stars awards.
Are there criticisms?
The list of the first 50 restaurants is based on a secret poll of a number of culinary experts in the world.

Critics say there is no well-defined standard for evaluating restaurants.
